Cross-user desktop preview disclosure via substring ownership matching
Published Nov 6, 2025 · Updated Nov 6, 2025
Unverified ownership in AWS Research and Engineering Studio before 2025.09 allows remote authenticated users to view another user's desktop previews. The Virtual Desktop preview page matches the signed-in username as a substring of each desktop owner's name instead of enforcing exact ownership. An authenticated account with a username contained in another owner's name can read that owner's active-session metadata and periodic preview screenshots.
