Authenticated stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Nov 27, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Güngör Budak Shouty 0.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The shouty shortcode accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and renders them without adequate output escaping, placing attacker-controlled script content into pages. Contributor-level access is required to save the payload, which executes in a visitor's browser whenever the injected page is opened.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
