CVE-2025-12657Network attack vector

Process crash via malformed KMIP response parsing

Published Nov 3, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Improper error handling in MongoDB Server 6.0 through 7.0.21 and 8.0 through 8.0.9 allows remote authenticated users to crash mongo binaries. The KMIP response parser accepts malformed packets, creates invalid objects, and later reads those objects, causing read access violations. The flaw is reachable only in MongoDB Enterprise deployments configured to use an external KMIP server, and published assessments require high privileges and specific attack conditions.
