CVE-2025-12638Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file write via tar symlink traversal

Published Nov 28, 2025 · Updated Nov 28, 2025

Path traversal in Keras 3.11.3 allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the cache by supplying a crafted tar archive. The extract_archive path in keras.utils.get_file passes prefiltered members to tarfile.extractall without the data filter, so PATH_MAX symlink-resolution failure bypasses filter_safe_paths. Exploitation requires an application to invoke get_file with extraction enabled on an attacker-controlled archive and user interaction; writes inherit the application's filesystem permissions.
