Unauthenticated CAPTCHA bypass via unhashed answer cookie
Published Feb 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
CAPTCHA bypass in Advanced Google reCAPTCHA 1.27 and earlier allows remote attackers to evade built-in math checks on protected WordPress forms. The math check stores its correct answer in a client-side cookie without hash_hmac protection, exposing the expected answer to the requester. Exploitation requires the built-in math CAPTCHA on a reachable form; the bypass removes that anti-automation check but does not itself grant WordPress access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
