CVE-2025-12494Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated image-file removal via unrestricted import path

Published Nov 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Improper authorization in WPChill Modula Image Gallery 2.12.28 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to move server image files. The ajax_import_file handler accepts an attacker-controlled local path without canonicalizing it or enforcing a base-directory allowlist, then passes it to media_handle_sideload with deletion enabled. Author-level access, an AJAX nonce, and the upload_files capability are required; successful requests remove the original image from its location and can break site content.
