Navigation bypass via unconditional download resumption
Published Nov 10, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025
Access control bypass in Extensions in Google Chrome before 142.0.7444.59 allows remote attackers to bypass navigation restrictions. The downloads API resume path treats paused downloads as resumable and returns true without performing the intended canResume check. Exploitation requires a user to install a crafted extension; the public record does not explain how the faulty resume decision crosses navigation controls.
