Code execution via malformed 7Z archive parsing
Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in WinZip 28.0 16022 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted 7Z archive. The 7Z parser fails to validate user-supplied data against the allocated buffer and writes beyond its end. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and resulting code runs in the current process context.
