CVE-2025-12204

Local service crash via expression-tree over-read

Published Oct 27, 2025 · Updated Oct 27, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Kamailio SIP Server 5.5 allows local users to crash the service through a crafted configuration file. During configuration parsing, pre-fixed module-function parameters reach rve_destroy in src/core/rvalue.c, which reads past an allocated expression-tree object as that tree is destroyed. Exploitation requires permission to replace a trusted server configuration and restart Kamailio; the project disputes the issue because such access already permits simpler service disruption.
