Authenticated code execution via CLI ping overflow
Published Dec 4, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the WatchGuard Fireware OS CLI allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted command. The management CLI ping command writes beyond an allocated buffer when it processes specially crafted command input; WatchGuard has not disclosed the affected function or field. Exploitation requires Device Administrator-level CLI access and can compromise the firewall operating system, but the vendor reports no known exploitation in the wild.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
