CVE-2025-12142

Firmware modification via unchecked message buffer copy

Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025

Classic buffer overflow in ABB Terra AC wallbox 1.8.33 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt memory and alter firmware behavior. A Bluetooth or OCPP message parser copies unchecked input into a fixed-size buffer in the BSS memory region, allowing a write to flash memory. Exploitation requires adjacent access and high privileges; successful attacks take control of the charger and persistently modify firmware behavior.
