Local code execution via registry value overflow
Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the egwindrv.sys driver in InsydeH2O Tools allows local users to execute code via a crafted registry value. The driver's RTL_QUERY_REGISTRY_DIRECT query reads an attacker-influenced registry value directly into its supplied buffer, allowing the value to overrun that destination. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and no user interaction; successful memory corruption permits arbitrary code execution or a host crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
