Published Nov 11, 2025 · Updated Nov 11, 2025
Stored XSS in Mervin Praison Featured Image 2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via image metadata. The shortcode renderers concatenate attachment alt text into an HTML attribute and return caption text as HTML without context-appropriate escaping. Administrator access is required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; a visitor triggers the stored script by viewing a page using an affected shortcode.
