Stored script execution via unescaped admin settings

Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025

Stored XSS in MembershipWorks 6.14 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through WordPress admin settings. The plugin emits member-access messages without output escaping and applies esc_textarea() instead of attribute escaping to button-label values. Administrator access is required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; stored scripts run in a visitor's browser when affected content is viewed.
