Unrecoverable controller fault via unchecked file copy

Buffer overflow in Rockwell Automation 5380/5480/5580 controllers allows remote attackers to cause an unrecoverable service interrupt. The controller file-handling path copies attacker-supplied invalid file data into a fixed-size buffer without checking its size. The network request requires no privileges or user interaction and drives the controller into a major non-recoverable fault, halting its control function.
