Unrecoverable controller fault via project-loading buffer overflow
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Buffer overflow in Rockwell Automation 5370/5570 controllers 35.015 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause an unrecoverable fault. The project-loading path copies data from an invalid project without checking the input size, overflowing a buffer and placing the controller in a major non-recoverable fault state. Network access is sufficient without authentication or user interaction; the documented consequence is persistent service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
