Local code execution via unqualified schtasks lookup
Published Oct 19, 2025 · Updated Oct 19, 2025
Uncontrolled search path in LibreWolf Installer 143.0.4-1 allows local users to execute code through a planted schtasks.exe file. The assets/setup.nsi script invokes schtasks.exe without an absolute path, so Windows resolves an attacker-controlled copy beside the installer. Exploitation requires local access to place that file and execution of the installer; the payload runs with the installing user’s privileges.
