Regular expression denial of service in Hugging Face Transformers before 4.50.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt applications. In SubWordJapaneseTokenizer.clean_text, content_repatter6 applies overlapping nested repetitions to untrusted price-like text, causing exponential backtracking and sustained CPU use. Exploitation requires text cleaning to be enabled and an application user to submit attacker-controlled text; the bounded consequence is application downtime without data access or modification.
