Path traversal in Michael Williamson Mammoth before 1.11.0 allows attackers to read host files through crafted DOCX images. The DOCX relationship reader treats an external image r:link target as a file URI, reads it without path or type validation, and embeds the bytes as a base64 data URI in generated HTML. Exploitation requires a consuming application or operator to convert the crafted document; special-device targets can also exhaust resources and hang or crash the conversion process.
