DOM query manipulation via unescaped XPath search
Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025
XPath injection in Hugging Face smolagents before 1.22.0 allows remote attackers to alter browser-agent DOM searches via crafted text. The search_item_ctrl_f function passes text into a Selenium XPath contains() predicate without escaping quotes or XPath operators. Exploitation requires a user to run the affected browser workflow; injected predicates can select unintended DOM elements and corrupt agent decisions, but no code execution is reported.
