Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode startindex
Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025
Stored XSS in WP AD Gallery 1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the ad-gallery startindex attribute. The shortcode handler accepts startindex without sufficient sanitization and emits it into generated gallery markup without context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to save the crafted shortcode; the payload then executes in the browser of anyone who visits the affected page.
