Contributor-level post trashing via broad capability check
Published Nov 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 18, 2025
Missing authorization in Broken Link Checker 1.2.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to trash arbitrary WordPress posts. The DELETE /wp-json/aioseoBrokenLinkChecker/v1/post endpoint checks only aioseo_blc_broken_links_page, a broad capability granted to contributors, instead of verifying permission for the targeted post. Contributor-level access is sufficient to target any post ID and move the corresponding post to the trash.
