CVE-2025-11617Network attack vector

Out-of-bounds read via IPv6 length wraparound

Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Oct 10, 2025

Buffer over-read in FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP 4.0.0 through 4.3.3 allows remote authenticated users to trigger out-of-bounds reads via malformed IPv6 packets. IPv6 packet processing trusts the header payload length, allowing an incorrect value to wrap the calculated length, appear erroneously large, bypass existing bounds checks, and drive reads past the received buffer. Only applications with IPv6 support enabled are exposed, and the documented consequences are limited memory disclosure and service interruption.
