Subscriber-level configuration takeover via unchecked activation
Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025
Missing authorization in Call Now Button 1.5.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter site-wide button settings. The activate method accepts an api_key or api_key_ott query value and writes it into the persistent cnb option without a capability check or nonce validation. Subscriber access is sufficient on a fresh installation with no API key, allowing an attacker-controlled cloud account to add or replace visitor-facing buttons.
