Remote code execution via stored newVersion overflow
Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Feb 24, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC7 15.03.06.44 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted newVersion value. The setNotUpgrade handler stores the unchecked newVersion field under not.notice.version, and GetRouterStatus later copies it into the fixed-length v9 stack buffer without a length check. Access to the router management interface is required; successful exploitation can execute code or crash the device.
