Account takeover via unlimited credential attempts
Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025
Authentication throttling failure in Schneider Electric PowerChute Serial Shutdown 1.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to access user accounts. The /REST/shutdownnow endpoint accepts an arbitrary number of different credential guesses without enforcing an attempt limit. The web agent must be reachable on the local network; successful guessing grants the targeted account's access and its available shutdown actions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
