Blocked-command execution via unnormalized absolute paths
Published Oct 8, 2025 · Updated Oct 8, 2025
OS command injection in wonderwhy-er Desktop Commander MCP 0.2.0 through 0.2.13 allows remote authenticated users to execute blocked commands. extractBaseCommand in src/command-manager.ts compares a space-free absolute path as the command name instead of reducing it to its basename, so /usr/bin/sudo does not match a sudo blocklist entry. Reachability requires an authorized or compromised MCP client and executes the selected program with the privileges of the account running the server.
