Service interruption via unreleased xstrdup allocations

Memory leak in GNU Binutils ld 2.43 allows remote attackers to consume process memory by inducing a user to link crafted input. During linker processing, xstrdup allocates copies derived from the supplied input, and ld fails to release those allocations before termination. Exploitation requires user interaction and high-complexity input processing, and the reported consequence is limited to availability loss in the linker process.
