CVE-2025-11462

Root code execution via symlinked log rotation

Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025

Improper link resolution in AWS Client VPN 1.3.2 through 5.2.0 for macOS allows local users to execute code with root privileges. During log rotation, the client follows a user-created log-file symlink and writes attacker-controlled internal API input to a privileged destination. A non-administrator account with local access can target a file such as crontab, causing the injected content to execute as root.
