CVE-2025-11413Public exploit

Linker crash via malformed ELF symbols

Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in the GNU Binutils 2.45 linker allows local users to crash the linker with a crafted ELF object file. In bfd/elflink.c, elf_link_add_object_symbols reads beyond a symbol-table boundary while adding object symbols from malformed ELF input. Exploitation requires a local user to make the linker process the crafted object; the reported consequence is linker termination, not data access or modification.
