Authenticated code execution via unbounded timeZone parsing
Published Oct 7, 2025 · Updated Oct 7, 2025
Buffer overflow in Tenda AC20 16.03.08.0 through 16.03.08.12 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted timeZone value. The fast_setting_wifi_set handler passes the untrusted value to sscanf without a destination-width constraint, overflowing adjacent memory. Network access to the web management interface and low-privilege authentication are required; exploitation permits code execution or an HTTP-service crash.
