Unauthenticated code execution via retained ZIP contents
Published Oct 6, 2025 · Updated Oct 6, 2025
Code injection in ILIAS 8.0 through 8.23, 9.0 through 9.13, and 10.0 through 10.1 lets remote attackers execute code via certificate import. The certificate editor extracts an uploaded ZIP into a web-accessible data directory, and an unhandled parser exception skips cleanup, leaving attacker files in place. Exploitation requires a public Test or Course with read access; a nested .htaccess can override Apache protections and execute an uploaded payload without authentication.
