Unauthenticated SSE access via optional bearer validation
Published Oct 5, 2025 · Updated Oct 5, 2025
Improper authentication in MCPHub 0.9.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to access SSE-backed MCP routes without credentials. The handleSseConnection function in src/services/sseService.ts calls validateBearerAuth, which returns true when bearer authentication is disabled, then creates and connects an SSE transport. Exploitation requires network reachability to an SSE route and grants access to the routed MCP server context without prior authentication.
