Authenticated cross-author image manipulation via unchecked post key
Published Oct 15, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Authorization bypass in Quick Featured Images 13.7.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter other authors' featured images. The qfi_set_thumbnail and qfi_delete_thumbnail AJAX handlers accept a user-controlled post key and set or remove its thumbnail without validating that the requester may modify that post. Author-level access is sufficient; the bounded consequence is unauthorized modification or removal of featured images on posts owned by other users.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
