Authenticated device freeze via oversized POST parameter
Published Sep 28, 2025 · Updated Sep 28, 2025
Buffer overflow in Tenda AC8 16.03.34.06 allows remote authenticated users to freeze the router through a crafted POST request. The formSetServerConfig handler accepts an oversized HTTP/1.0 200 OK form value without a length check, and websDone overflows the stack while processing it. Low-privileged management access is sufficient; successful triggering drives CPU use to 100%, interrupts network service, and requires a physical restart.
