Authenticated command execution via traceroute target injection
Published Sep 28, 2025 · Updated Sep 28, 2025
Command injection in D-Link DIR-823X 250416 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through a traceroute request. The /goform/diag_traceroute handler fails to validate target_addr before command execution, allowing shell metacharacters to append attacker-chosen commands. Valid management credentials and network access to the web interface are required; injected commands run on the router.
