CVE-2025-10921

Code execution via unchecked HDR data length

Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in GIMP 3.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute code by inducing a user to open a crafted HDR file. The GEGL RGBE loader trusts attacker-controlled HDR data lengths and copies data past the end of a heap-allocated destination buffer. Exploitation requires user interaction and runs code in the GIMP process, exposing the user session's data and privileges.
