CVE-2025-1078Public exploit

Privileged hardware access via unconditional XPC acceptance

Published Feb 6, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Improper authorization in AppHouseKitchen AlDente 1.29 and earlier allows local users to invoke privileged hardware operations via XPC. The helper's shouldAcceptNewConnection method accepts every client without code-signing or audit-token validation, exposing HelperToolProtocol methods. A local low-privileged process can read SMC data, change SMC settings, or create power assertions that drain the battery and disrupt device operation.
