Authenticated code execution via unrestricted profile-photo upload
Published Sep 21, 2025 · Updated Sep 22, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Academico at commit d9a9e2636fbf7e5845ee086bcb03ca62faceb6ab allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The /edit-photo profile-picture handler accepts HTML, SVG, and PHP files without security filters, stores invalid images unchanged, and exposes the originals under /storage. A student account is sufficient; requesting an uploaded PHP web shell executes attacker-supplied commands on the application server.
