Subscriber-level backup filename disclosure via unchecked AJAX
Published Oct 25, 2025 · Updated Oct 25, 2025
Missing authorization in WP Media BackWPup 5.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to disclose a running backup's filename. The backwpup_working AJAX action returns live log content to any logged-in user without a capability or CSRF nonce check, exposing the backup-name log entry. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, but a backup must be running; the filename can assist archive brute forcing in limited NGINX environments.
