SYSTEM code execution via writable DLL search path
Published Apr 23, 2026 · Updated Apr 23, 2026
DLL hijacking in EfficientLab Controlio before 1.3.95 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The privileged service searches its writable installation directory for absent DLLs and loads an attacker-planted file when the service starts. Exploitation requires local file-creation access and a service start, after which the code can control the host or disable monitoring.
