Unauthenticated quiz-attempt tampering via trusted cookie
Published Sep 18, 2025 · Updated Sep 18, 2025
Authorization bypass in Chained Quiz 1.3.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to modify other users' quiz attempts through a cookie. The AJAX answer handler trusts the predictable completion ID in chained_completion_id<quiz_id> and updates that database record without verifying attempt ownership. No authentication is required under default settings; enumerating another completion ID permits overwriting that user's answers, points, score, and result.
