Root access via Diagnostics Tools command injection
Published Oct 28, 2025 · Updated Oct 28, 2025
OS command injection in Hitachi Energy TropOS 4th Gen 8.7.0.0 through 8.9.5.x allows remote authenticated users to gain root access. The web configuration utility's Diagnostics Tools page passes inadequately validated user input to the device command shell, where injected commands can invoke SUID applications. High-privilege configuration access and a reachable management interface are required; successful exploitation yields root-level control of the router.
