Unauthenticated account takeover via empty JWT secret
Published Oct 15, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Authentication bypass in OwnID Passwordless Login 1.3.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to sign in as any WordPress user via JWT. The JWT authentication path treats an empty ownid_shared_secret as valid instead of rejecting the request before user authentication. The flaw is reachable only while plugin setup remains incomplete, but it grants access as targeted accounts, including administrators.
