CVE-2025-10215

Local code execution via public-directory DLL loading

Published Sep 10, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025

DLL search path hijacking in UPDF 1.8.5.0 for Windows allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a planted FREngine.dll. UPDF.exe loads FREngine.dll from the user-writable C:\Users\Public\AppData\Local\UPDF\FREngine\Bin64 directory without constraining the library to a trusted location. Local low-privileged access and execution of UPDF.exe are required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied code and supports persistence.
