Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Sep 26, 2025 · Updated Sep 26, 2025
Stored XSS in CreativeMinds CM Business Directory 1.5.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a shortcode. The cmbd_featured_image shortcode accepts user-controlled attributes without sufficient sanitization and emits them into page output without context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script runs in the browser of anyone who opens the affected page, enabling actions and data access within that visitor's WordPress session.
