Administrator-authenticated file deletion via unvalidated archive path
Published Sep 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in The Hack Repair Guy's Plugin Archiver 2.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete server files. The prepare_items function fails to confine an administrator-controlled file path to the plugin archive before passing it to deletion logic. Administrator access is required, and deleting a critical file such as wp-config.php can enable remote code execution.
