CVE-2025-10158Network attack vectorHinoki check available

Out-of-bounds heap read via negative index

Published Nov 18, 2025 · Updated Nov 18, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in rsync 3.4.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to trigger an invalid heap access during file transfer. In send_files() in sender.c, a peer-controlled negative index can reach dir_flist->files[cur_flist->parent_ndx] without rejecting a negative parent_ndx. Read access to an rsync module is required; upstream analysis limits the effect to the attacker's connection and establishes no data disclosure or whole-service interruption.
