Unauthenticated command execution via filtered Hostname injection
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 9, 2025
Command injection in D-Link DIR-823X 250416 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted Hostname. The unauthenticated /goform/set_static_leases handler applies an incomplete dangerous-character filter before concatenating Hostname into a shell command. A crafted POST request requires no login and can run commands with the router process's privileges, enabling shell access and device compromise.
