CVE-2025-1007Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Namespace defacement via missing ownership checks

Published Feb 19, 2025 · Updated Feb 19, 2025

Improper authorization in Eclipse Foundation Open VSX 0.9.0 through 0.20.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter namespace details. The updateNamespaceDetails and updateNamespaceDetailsLogo paths passed requests to UserService without identifying the logged-in user or verifying namespace ownership. Any signed-in account can overwrite a namespace's public name, description, website, support and social links, or logo, enabling misleading content and social engineering.
